A former skating rink operator charged with sexually abusing minors likely will spend the rest of his life in prison after reaching a plea agreement with Tulsa County prosecutors.
Fifty-6-year-old David Abston pleaded no contest to two counts of sexually abusing one child, and prosecutors dismissed 26 other felony counts as part of the agreement.
District Judge Jesse S. Harris sentenced Abston to two concurrent life sentences, which means he must serve one life term. That means Abston would have to serve at least 38 years and three months in prison before being eligible for parole.
Abston already is serving a 30-year federal prison sentence he received last year after he pleaded guilty to possessing and selling child pornography.
Abston, who owned and operated Roller City in Broken Arrow, had been charged in state court with sex offenses involving 19 boys between 8 and 14 years old during a period from July 1999 to September 2006.
