Donald S. Lacy guilty of molesting children

A Muncie man convicted of child molesting has received a maximum eight-year prison term from Delaware Circuit Court 5 Judge Wayne Lennington.

Donald Steven Lacy, 51, was convicted of a Class C felony, which carried a standard four-year sentence, by a Circuit Court 5 jury last Oct. 18.

The jury was unable to reach verdicts on two other child molesting charges filed against Lacy, and a fourth pending charge was dismissed after the guilty verdict was announced.
Three girls between the ages of 6 and 11 accused Lacy of fondling them during a December 2006 sleepover.

Lacy acknowledged sleeping in the same bed with the children but denied touching them, according to court documents.

Lennington ruled that upon being released from prison, Lacy will be required for 10 years to register as a convicted sex offender in the communities in which he lives and works.

However, based on examinations by two mental health professionals, Lennington ruled Lacy was not a sexually violent predator, a classification that in part would have prohibited the Muncie man from residing within 1,000 feet of schools and public parks.

Lacy said he intended to appeal his conviction.
