Former N.J. Hockey Coach Facing Rape Charges

A former field hockey coach with ties to South Jersey and founder of Model Hockey Academy in Medford is facing rape and child pornography charges.

According to authorities, Todd J. Broxmeyer, 37, of Lisle, N.Y., was arrested in New York in December after allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Broxmeyer allegedly photographed the sexual encounter with the unidentified teen and kept the images on a cell phone. Authorities said the phone also contained images of other unclothed young females.

According to authorities, Broxmeyer, a former member of the U.S. National Hockey Team, was also accused of raping two 15-year-old girls and sexually assaulting another teen. Authorities said the alleged victims were players coached by Broxmeyer.

Broxmeyer, a field hockey coach in the Binghamton area, moved to N.Y. from the Cherry Hill area two years ago.

"It totally blows me away. This was somebody who was in our facility, rented our court from us," said Brian Kosa of the Cherry Hill Health & Racquet Club.

Kosa rented indoor practice space to Broxmeyer in 2005 and 2006.

"I have a daughter who is 17 and it just creeps me out," Kosa said.

Broxmeyer is facing three counts of rape, one count of sex abuse and has been charged with production and possession of child pornography.

Pennsylvania State Police are also investigating a sexual abuse complaint against Broxmeyer involving a 15-year-old Allentown girl.

Broxmeyer is being held in a New York jail without bail.
