Police hunting highway sex predator

Police investigating the sexual assault of a 46-year-old woman on a highway near Carnarvon are appealing for help to track down the offender.

They say the woman stopped on the North West Coastal Highway, about five kilometres north of the Billabong roadhouse after hitting two birds on the evening of Thursday, January the third.

A man in a white Toyota Hi-Lux four-wheel-drive stopped to help her before producing a knife and holding it to her throat while sexually assaulting her.

The woman suffered several slash wounds.

The man being sought in connecting with the attack is 40 to 50 years old, 178 centimetres tall, with a fair complexion and short light brown hair with face stubble.
