Robert L. Metz - ChildPorn - 20,000 images including infants

“An obsession with this type of conduct, coupled with the defendant’s sexual misconduct with his own daughters, demonstrates that he could not be trusted in the community,”

An East Manatee County man accused of owning more than 20,000 images of child pornography will be held in federal custody while awaiting trial, a judge ruled this week.

Many of the images authorities seized from Metz showed infants
in sex acts with adults.

Robert L. Metz, 53, who was indicted in December, admitted to owning and distributing the images via the Internet. Authorities said the number of images in the Metz case is substantially higher than in other child porn cases in Southwest Florida.

Metz admitted to federal investigators that he sexually abused female relatives years ago, according to court records. Many of the images authorities seized from Metz showed infants in sex acts with adults.

“An obsession with this type of conduct, coupled with the defendant’s sexual misconduct with his own daughters, demonstrates that he could not be trusted in the community,” U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson said in an order published Monday. “The danger is simply too great.”

Many of the images authorities seized from Metz showed infants

Wilson said in the order that Metz, who had been a manager at a 7-Eleven, faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted. Metz has pleaded not guilty. Trial is scheduled for next month.
