A convicted high-risk sex offender is accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy several times on the weekend, Winnipeg police said.
The police sex crimes unit has charged Winnipeg resident Brent Freeman Atatise, 30.
Atatise is an acquaintance of the boy’s family, police said.
Police said the assaults occurred Saturday afternoon. The victim told his mom about the incidents and she contacted police.
Atatise is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, breach of probation and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance. "25% of all sex offenders re-offend within 15 years"
