Charles Thomas Gaddy - Repeat Sex Offender - AGAIN for Child Pornography

Conviction date: 1/22/2002
Possession of Obscene Material Person Under 17

A Lee County, Ala. man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for having child pornography.

Charles Thomas Gaddy, 50, pleaded guilty March 24 to possession of child pornography and failure to register as a sex offender. On Wednesday, Middle District of Alabama U.S. District Court Judge W. Harold Albritton sentenced him to prison and a lifetime of supervised probation, U.S. Attorney Leura G. Canary said.

Child pornography was found May 17, 2007, when the Opelika Police Department got a tip from the manager of a hotel where Gaddy worked. The manager had found the images were downloaded when Gaddy was the only person working.

Police and the Lee County Sheriff's Office conducted a search warrant on Gaddy's home and found a large amount of child pornography, Canary said. Searching a rental unit of Gaddy's, they found more images and girls' clothes.

Gaddy was arrested while he was living with family in Columbus. At the time, he was a registered sex offender in Russell County, though he hadn't told police about his residence change. His home was within 100 yards of a middle school.
