Barry Lee Snyder AKA "kittens_father_2008" traded child porn

A 55-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after he e-mailed child pornography to an undercover detective, Boynton Beach police said.

Barry Lee Snyder is charged with possession and transmission of child pornography.

According to police, Snyder began chatting with an undercover Boynton Beach police detective in a Yahoo chat room in August.

Police said Snyder, who used the screen name kittens_father_2008, believed he was chatting with the father of a young child.

A search of Snyder's laptop computer uncovered more than 500 images of child porn and numerous pornographic videos of children between the ages of 3 and 16, according to police.

Snyder, who is self-employed, is being held at the Polk County Jail.

He faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography, including an enhancement under the CyberCrimes Against Children Act of 2007 that, if convicted, could increase his total sentence to a maximum of 60 years in prison, the news release stated.

The CyberCrime Unit is a member of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is coordinated by the Sheriff's Office.
