Gary LaMountain - Repeat Sex Offender only four months after release

Last August, LaMountain broke into a neighbor’s home in Cumberland, sexually assaulted her four times and threatened to break her neck. Four months before, LaMountain had been let out of ACI after completing a sentence for a previous rape.

A 39-year-old convicted sex offender who sexually assaulted a woman months after he was released from prison has been sentenced to 40 years behind bars.

Gary LaMountain pleaded no contest Friday to four counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of breaking and entering. Providence Superior Court Judge Joseph Rodgers then sentenced LaMountain to 40 years at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

Last August, LaMountain broke into a neighbor’s home in Cumberland, sexually assaulted her four times and threatened to break her neck. Four months before, LaMountain had been let out of ACI after completing a sentence for a previous rape.

Police said he attacked the woman as authorities were getting ready to alert the community to the registered sex offender’s presence.
