A medical surgical nurse at E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur is free on probation supervision after being charged with engaging in child pornography.
Canton Village Police say 47 year old John Forster of 76 Buck Street, Apartment B was charged with felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
The investigation was launched after a State Police Computer Crime Unit intercepted Forster’s alleged sexually explicit computer transactions.
Police Chief Alan Mulkin says “upwards of 1,000 electronic photos and print images of youths under the age of 16″ were found in nhis possession.
Mulkin also says Forster appeared to have been trading the child porn on-line.
It’s not known whether any of the children appearing in sexually suggestive poses were local kids.
Anyone with information on potnetial victims are asked to contact Canton Police at 386-4561.
The investigation is continuing.
Forster was arraigned before village Justice Michael Crowe and released under probation supervision.
