Police say Robert Thompson sexually assaulted a woman at his New Haven home at about 1 a.m. Saturday after repeatedly punching her in the face. Authorities say the victim escaped after Thompson fell asleep.
Officers say they found Thompson at his temporary job in North Haven and charged him with sexual assault, kidnapping, assault and threatening.
Pennsylvania's sex offender registry says Thompson previously lived in Philadelphia and was convicted of rape in 1990.
Police say they expect to file more charges against Thompson for his alleged failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
