Steven Vaughn Teague - Repeat Sex offender - obsessed with little boys

A repeat sex offender obsessed with little boys is headed to prison again.

A judge today initially sentenced Steven Vaughn Teague to 25 years after he admitted to a string of child-pornography charges in Albuquerque. However Teague will end up serving considerably less time than that.

Teague, 38, is no stranger to prison. He was convicted on child porn charges in Alaska in 2000 and sentenced to three years in federal prison.

Today he was back in the same position.

"Steven Teague has a sick and dangerous fascination with child pornography," prosecutor Raul Torrez said during the sentencing hearing.




Teague was the subject of a special investigation by the New Mexico Attorney General's Office that began in the spring of 2007.

Investigators found numerous images of child porn on a computer thumb drive belonging to Teague and on his cell phone.

The images included pictures and videos of little boys engaged in sex acts organized according to age groups.

The judge saw some of those images in court today. During the hearing Teague admitted he has a problem.

"I am very sorry for this,' Teague told District Judge Kenneth Martinez. "I want help. I take full responsibility."

Martinez handed down the 25-year sentence but suspended all but eight years.

As it stands, with credit for time served, Teague will spend 6 1/2 years in state prison.

Martinez is also pushing for Teague to get sex-offender counseling while in prison.

Teague originally faced more than 30 child-porn charges, but that number was reduced to six in a plea deal.

According to the prosecutor handling the case there is no evidence that any of the boys appearing in Teague's child porn collection were from New Mexico.
