A registered sex offender currently incarcerated for failing to register with police was arraigned Friday on charges stemming from an armed home invasion earlier this year.
Thurston Allen, 36, a registered Level 3 sex offender, allegedly exposed himself and groped a woman during a March 21 home invasion on Purchase Street, court records said.
Mr. Allen has been held on $1,000 bail since being arrested Sept. 10 for failing to register.
He has two prior convictions for failure to register. If convicted a third time, he faces at least five years in state prison.
Mr. Allen, who was most recently listed homeless, was convicted in 1996 for rape of a child.
He was arraigned Friday on charges that include indecent exposure, indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, armed robbery, and home invasion. He was held on an additional $2,500 cash bail.
According to court records, a male victim said he was robbed at knifepoint during the alleged home invasion. A female victim told police Mr. Allen also exposed himself and grabbed her breast, court records said.
Mr. Allen is scheduled to return to court Nov. 13 for a counsel-appointment hearing.
