Tony Holliday, 40, a man police say was convicted of rape in 1988, has been charged after allegedly forcing a woman into a vacant house and raping her Thursday.
According to Elkhart Police Lt. Ed Windbigler Magistrate Thomas Murto found probable cause for Holliday’s arrest on a charge of rape Class A felony. Holliday is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Police said the 30-year-old victim told them she was walking home from downtown about 4 a.m. when she was approached by the man who forced her into a vacant house and raped her.
Investigators said Holliday has been arrested for multiple crimes in recent years and is listed as a sex predator on the Indiana Sheriffs’ Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape in 1988 but was released early. He had recently been released from prison for another crime, police said.
