Barrie Stewart - Convicted sex fiend has an enabling idiotic scumbag girlfriend Abby - standing by her pedo-man

But, in his summing up, Judge Christopher Elwen said: “It is the prosecution’s case that he is a clever, bullying and controlling child abuser.”

And passing sentence, Judge Elwen blasted: “It has been a long time since I have presided over such an unpleasant trial.

“There is little or nothing to be said in your favour. You made the children relive their ordeals in public.”

The girlfriend of a convicted paedophile who was jailed for sexually abusing three children says she’ll stand by him – and hopes they’ll eventually get married and have more children.
Barrie Stewart, from Caerphilly in South Wales, was thrown behind bars for 15 years after being convicted of a string of sex offences, including six counts of indecency with a child.

The 42-year-old sex fiend was also found guilty of three rapes, one indecent assault and an attempted rape – with the judge branding him a “bullying and controlling child abuser”.

The crimes, which were committed over a number of years, date back to when the building worker and fencer was living in Cornwall.
But amazingly, his 21-year-old partner and mother of his child Abby Davies today breaks her silence and says, despite the convictions, she would still trust Stewart with their one-year-old baby boy Robert.

In a tell-all interview with Wales On Sunday which will stun any parent, Abby reveals how she:
  • was left gobsmacked after being told of the accusations on the day she was due to give birth;
  • was forced out of the house she shared with Stewart after locals found out about the allegations;
  • promises to remain faithful to her long-term partner;
  • is devastated that their son hasn’t been able to bond with his father;
  • hopes she will one day be able to marry Stewart and have more children with him.
Abby said: “I stood by him throughout the court case – and I’m still standing by him because I believe it’s all lies.

“When he walks out of jail I will be there for him.”

Unemployed Abby, who is living with her mum in a terraced house in Caerphilly, met Stewart at the end of 2006 through mutual friends. He asked her out to the cinema and by February 2007 they were in a relationship.

The couple were overjoyed later that year when they found out Abby was pregnant with their first child and set about making plans for the arrival of the tot, who doctors told them was due on April 8, 2008.

As they prepared for their new arrival everything seemed fine – until her due date arrived and social workers dropped a bombshell.

They said serious sexual allegations had been made against Stewart and that he wouldn’t be able to have any unsupervised contact with their child once he was born.

Abby said: “I was so happy about the prospect of having a baby with Barrie. We couldn’t wait to be parents.

“Then everything came crashing down with that news. I couldn’t believe we found out on my due date.
“I’ve never got any sense of him being a dangerous guy. He’s never done anything towards anyone that made me think he’d be capable of that. But I knew it was lies.”
As the court case was pending, Abby was forced to raise Robert by herself, as Stewart was told he wasn’t allowed near anyone under the age of 18.

When news of Stewart’s charges came to light, locals organised a petition demanding that the couple were turfed out of the house they were sharing.

Police then came knocking at their door and advised them that, for their safety, they should leave. Abby moved in with her mum Sian Davies, while Stewart was housed in bed-and-breakfast accommodation.
What kept Abby going was the prospect that her partner would eventually be acquitted when he went on trial at Truro Crown Court this year.

But after he faced a week-long hearing this month, a jury unanimously found him guilty after deliberating for nearly seven hours.
He was acquitted on two further rape allegations, but Stewart denied he had committed any offences and claimed the allegations were malicious.

He also claimed he was in care until he was 16 years old and told the court he had been a victim of sexual abuse himself.

Judge Elwen added that the fact Stewart came from a troubled background was no excuse for his actions.

Abby said that, in court, prosecutors used Barrie’s relationship with her as evidence he abused younger people.

But she denied that was true, saying: “The age gap between us was never an issue. He is the youngest person I have ever been out with.

“They said in court that he had been abusing me, but that isn’t the case.”
Stewart is now having trouble dealing with life inside prison.
BOO FRIGGIN' HOO

Abby said: “He’s devastated. He’s struggling to come to terms with being found guilty when he says he didn’t do it.”
Stewart will be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life – and will have to tell police whenever he moves home.
When he is released, social services will only allow him to spend time with Robert in the presence of Abby’s mum Sian.

Even so, Abby says she is desperate for her baby boy to be reunited with his father.
She said: “Barrie hasn’t been able to bond with his son and he hated the fact he couldn’t spend time with him. I believe he would be a brilliant dad.
“Robert does know his dad – he cries every night for him.
“I’m not even allowed to send Barrie photos of his son, because he’s not allowed images of anyone under the age of 18.
“He’ll only be able to see Robert with unrestricted access when he reaches his 18th birthday.”

Stewart now plans to appeal against his conviction. If that fails, he will have to serve at least 7½ years behind bars.
Abby says she would love one day to get married to him and have more children.
But it would have to be either if his conviction is quashed or once Robert is old enough to see his Stewart without restrictions, she said.

Promising to stay faithful to Stewart while he’s inside, Abby said: “I would like to get married to him, but it would only be once he got out of prison and Robert was old enough.

“I would like to have more children with him, but realistically I think it would be best if he got to know Robert first.

“In a dream world, if he was still out of prison now, I would get married to him.”

Abby’s mum Sian, 49, says she too was left devastated by the court case and says their lives have been made a living nightmare.

Sian said: “We’ve been through hell dealing with this. I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Barrie never gave me any cause for concern.

“Abby wouldn’t be standing by him if she thought he was guilty.”

But Abby added: “Whether or not the appeal goes through, this has ruined his life.

“At the end of the day, he’s branded for life.”
