Richard Dean Stephen - School Bus Driver Pedophile

He's a man who parents trusted to drive their elementary children to and from school for the past two years.

Now, he's accused of crossing the line with a 5-year-old girl.

Clark County School District bus driver Richard Dean Stephen was arrested Tuesday night at his Van Der Meer Street home in North Las Vegas.

Police took action one month after a family member of the little girl spoke up, saying Stephen had molested the child numerous times inside her home.

The 5-year-old is not a student with the district and hadn't been riding on Stephen's bus. Parents still say they feel violated.

"If he's a bus driver. I'd like to know how the hell he got hired?"

A spokesperson for the Clark County School District says the 63-year-old was hired back in August 2007.

They say, even though he's being charged, he's currently still considered an employee of the school district.

"He should not be around any children. He should be far away from children," said neighbor Sandra Taylor.
Looking back on it, Taylor says it's strange how much time Richard Stephen would spend with all of the young neighborhood children.

"I would go into my room, and I would see kids at his house with him, kids under 10, all the time" she said. "You know how kids will run in a pack and maybe go to what appears to be a grandfatherly type, that might be giving them cookies and candy. So really, it's horrifying."
Richard Stephen's relationship with the 5-year-old victim is unclear at this time.

Right now, North Las Vegas Police are calling this an "isolated incident".
However, they're not ruling out the possibility of more young victims being out there.
Stephen is behind bars on seven counts of lewdness with a minor under 14 and three counts of sexual assault.
