Neil Newcomb - Repeat Sex Offender - Back behind bars

A Jones County registered sex offender is back behind bars after being arrested on four counts of child exploitation.

According to Sheriff Alex Hodge, Neil Newcomb, 59, of the 100 block of Lower Hamilton Road, is in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility after he allegedly took photographs of young children and teenagers in a sexually explicit nature.

“Newcomb was arrested and convicted on similar charges approximately 11 years ago for fondling a minor girl,” said Investigator Carla McMahan.

If convicted, Newcomb faces a possible $50,000 fine and five to 40 years in prison.

“Crimes that are committed against children are despicable and will not be tolerated in Jones County,” said Hodge.

Newcomb was arrested at his place of employment without incident and remains in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility.
