Samuel Hamett - Serial Child Molester

A Pahrump man has been arrested on more than three dozen counts of sexual assault and lewdness with a child.

Samuel Hamett, 57, was taken into custody Tuesday.
Authorities said they believe there could be several more victims out there.

So far, 10 children have been identified -- from 14-year-olds to toddlers.
"It must be behind closed doors," said Hamett’s neighbor, Thaddeus Bolinger.

One neighbor said he never saw anything suspicious. Investigators said they have proof Hamett sexually abused several children.
“An underage victim disclosed to her parents she had been victimized by Mr. Hamett," said Nye County Sheriff’s Office Detective David Boruchowitz. “It spiraled from there. We ended up with numerous victims. We're at 10 victims out there that have been identified."

Boruchowitz said with that many possible victims, chances are there are more out there.
“We interviewed all the victims. Their stories corroborated each other's. We did do a search warrant on his home," Boruchowitz said.

Investigators said Hamett has lived in Pahrump for about three years and has no record with the sheriff's office.

Neighbors said there always seemed to be people shuffling in and out of his home, perhaps family or relatives.

"He was a very outgoing type of person," Bolinger said. “He seemed to be affectionate toward the little girl … She doesn't seem to be afraid of him. There are other children out and about."

"Ten counts -- that's a lot,” Bolinger said.

Parents of any child who have had contact with Hamett in the last three years are urged to come forward. Even if they don't suspect abuse, investigators want to talk to them.

Hamett was being held Wednesday night on $250,000 bail.
