James Waxman - Repeat Sex Offender

A convicted sex offender who spent more than a decade in prison was ordered to stand trial on new sexual assault charges involving teenage girls.

James Waxman, 48, waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week and stood mute to seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, court records indicate. He remains in custody without bond and has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for June 9.

Records show a district court judge also ordered HIV testing during a brief hearing, which is customary in sexual assault cases. Washtenaw County deputies arrested the Ypsilanti Township man earlier this month after families of the 13-year-old victims reported incidents that occurred as far back as February.

Further details about the allegations were not available.
Waxman was convicted of multiple counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1993 and served roughly 13 years behind bars for assaulting girls ages 6 and 9.
He was in compliance with the Michigan Sex Offender Registry, records show.
