Broomfield man arrested for child pornography

A 57-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for sexual exploitation of children and possession and distribution of child pornography.

Broomfield Police say they arrested Robert Edwin Thompson after he allegedly sent child pornography photos online to someone in Florida.

Police say the investigation originated in Florida, where authorities with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) identified a Florida suspect in an AOL chat room who was actively pursuing sex with minors on the Internet.

During their investigation, they found evidence that Thompson has sent the Florida suspect child pornography. South Florida's ICAC referred the case to the Colorado ICAC and ultimately to Broomfield Police. Thompson was booked at the Broomfield Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
