Duluth Police Arrest A Level Three Sex Offender

A level three sex offender is behind bars tonight after a man hunt in Canal Park.

A number of police squads scoured a Canal Park hotel for a few hours earlier this afternoon, searching for Roderick James Emery... who was wanted on a warrant out of the Twin Cities for failure to register as a predatory offender.

Police had information that Emery was at a hotel in Canal Park...
Police say Emery ran from the Hampton Inn to the Inn on Lake Superior.

Police followed Emery and set a perimeter around the Inn.

Teams of police officers including a canine unit from the St. Louis Sheriff's Office searched through every room of the hotel, but failed to find him.

Police say they ended up finding and arresting Emery at 4–19 North First Ave West... ironically – right near the Duluth Police Station.

Police say Emery is a level three predatory offender.

Emery was an accomplice in a sexual assault against an adult female whomhe did not know.

Police also say Emery has a history of sexual contact with a juvenile female who was known to him.
