Paddy's Day man facing porn charges

The man who led one of Northern Ireland's biggest St Patrick's Day parades for 10 years has been charged with child pornography offences, the Belfast Telegraph can reveal.

John Linton Corry - who played St Patrick for major tourist events in Downpatrick - is alleged to have made an indecent photograph of a child on November 10 last year.

At Downpatrick Magistrate's Court last week Corry was also charged with possessing an indecent photograph of a child on January 8.

Corry spoke only to confirm that he understood the charges and a police constable said she believed she could connect him to the offences.

He was released on bail of £500 and banned from using computers. As part of his bail conditions police are also permitted to search his house as required.

Corry is a well known public figure in Co Down after heading St Patrick's Day parades. He was replaced as St Patrick in 2006 just weeks before he was due to lead the cross-community St Patrick's Day Parade through Downpatrick. A new 'saint' was drafted in for the 2006 and 2007 festivals.
