Steven A. Hoover, 43, was arrested yesterday after a three-month investigation by the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force. The investigation originated with a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which claimed a person from Mid-Missouri had uploaded a sexually explicit photograph of a child onto the Internet.
According to a statement released by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force was able to trace the photograph to the suspect’s residence. After a court-ordered search of Hoover’s home on Oct. 30, investigators seized two computers with child pornography images.
Hoover was arrested at his home yesterday and is being held at the Boone County Jail on $22,500 bond.
