Wagher went on to say that he only likes to be around children and he takes pictures of them as mementos, the reports said. He said he buys gifts for children and takes them to Disneyland and concerts.

He later told deputies he had touched or massaged 18 children over the past eight years.



Rick Lee Wagher, arrested in June for child molestation, was sentenced Thursday to 24 years in prison by a Kern County Superior Court judge.

The 58-year-old man was charged with six counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child after he was found with three naked boys in his trailer in east Bakersfield.

Wagher took a plea deal Aug. 21 that dismissed three of the six charges.

He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, so Wagher won't be eligible for parole until his late 70s.

The boys found in Wagher's mobile home ranged from ages 6 to 13.

Authorities found nude photos of the boys along with evidence that suggested Wagher had molested about a dozen other children during a multiple-year period. Detectives, however, weren't able to locate the other victims.

It was not alleged that Wagher had intercourse with his victims, though it was alleged that he touched them inappropriately, according to prosecutors.
