A Winder man was arrested Friday night when police officers found items related to child pornography in his car.
According to a news release issued by the Winder Police Department, Samuel Laird, 54, was pulled over Friday night. Officers discovered drug paraphernalia inside Laird’s car and found that his car was not insured. He was taken into custody. After a deeper investigation, officers found the child pornography in the car.
A search warrant was issued for Laird's home. "We discovered a large amount of very disturbing pornographic material when we began searching the property," said Winder Police Detective Rachel Love in the news release.
Laird has been transferred to the Barrow County Detention Center where he is awaiting his first court appearance. He has been charged with Sexual Exploitation of Children, Possession of Drug Related Objects, No Insurance and Operation of an Unregistered Vehicle.
