Sex offender violates parole

Police need your help in locating convicted felon and wanted subject Curtis Eugene Caldwell, 47, a sexual offender whose whereabouts have been unknown for two years.

In December 1997, Caldwell was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sodomy. His victims were juvenile males. He was convicted in 1998 and sentenced to six years in the Oregon State Penitentiary. He was released November 2004.

As a registered sex offender, Caldwell is required by law to report his new address within 10 days of moving and within 10 days of his birthday. The last time Caldwell registered was March 17, 2005, with an address in Medford.

Because Caldwell has violated the terms of his parole and his whereabouts are unknown, a no-bail felony warrant held by the Oregon State Parole Board has been issued. An additional felony warrant is held by the Medford Police Department, for failure to register as a sex offender, with a bail of $10,000.

Caldwell is described as a white male adult, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 280 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The picture shown here, taken March 25, 2005, is the most recent photo available.

If you have seen Curtis Eugene Caldwell, or have information of his whereabouts, please contact Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon at 800-3-DETECT (800-333-8328). This Crime Stopper's case number is MT-372.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case or any unsolved criminal activity. Callers can remain anonymous. The reward is sponsored by Sonitrol of Eugene.
