A repeat sex offender is facing the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced on rape and sexual assault charges involving two young relatives.
A Sonoma County judge Monday sentenced Carl Skidmore to 290 years to life in prison after he was convicted in January of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault charges involving an eleven and a 14-year-old girl.
But before that sentence starts, Skidmore -- who turns 57 next week -- must complete a 25-year sentence for related charges, including trying to hire someone to harm a witness.
After he was charged in the case, Skidmore admitted to separate charges of hiring someone to assault the victims' brother to prevent the girls from testifying.
Skidmore was previously convicted in 1985 of molesting another female family member.
