Chatham County investigators are asking for the public's help in finding registered sex offender Stephen Alexander Bell.
Bell, 40, was convicted of child molestation in Chatham County in 2004. Classified by the state as a sexually dangerous predator, he was fitted last month with a tracking anklet.
The tracking device was found cut off behind the Chu's market on Tybrisia Street on Tybee Island Monday. Though Bell was registered as a Tybee resident, it's unknown where he is or how long exactly he may have been without the tracking device.
Bell's employer hasn't seen him since last Wednesday.
Bell is described as a white male, 5'6" tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a Jolly Roger tattoo on his left shoulder.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Blanton with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Registry and Tracking Unit at 912.652.7697.
Bell faces charges for violating his probation and registered sex offender rules.
