Eddy Barreras - Repeat Sex Offender - Child Predator

  • 06/19/2005 CRIMINAL ATTEMPT TO COMMIT RAPE
  • 04/07/2008 SOLICITATION OF A MINOR: CLASS B OR C

A registered sex offender has been charged with solicitation of child rape in connection with an incident involving two sisters last week.

Eddy Barreras, 29, is scheduled to make an initial court appearance today.

According to a police affidavit:
The sisters, ages 12 and 14, told their mother a man tried to get them to get into his car as they rode their bikes near Homer and Fairmont on Friday at 4:40 p.m.
Their mother got the license plate of the car when the man drove past their house.

Officers later stopped Barreras, who wears a GPS tracking device, in his 1999 Ford Crown Victoria in the Binghamton area.

Officers found a knife under the driver’s side floor mat, an unused condom on the passenger’s seat, and another condom in the glove box.

Barreras is also charged with solicitation of aggravated rape and driving with a suspended license.
He was sentenced to three years for attempted rape in August 2006 and was placed on lifetime supervision in June 2007, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction. He has previous convictions for burglary and vandalism.
