Accused Man Is A RSO

The Assaria man arrested over the weekend for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old boy is a registered sex offender.

Benjamin J. Workman, 26, has been a registered sex offender since April 2004. According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation's registered sex offender Web site, Workman was convicted of sexual battery.

He was arrested Friday in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Dec. 22 in the Smolan area. Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said Monday that a mutual acquaintance put Workman and the 15-year-old in contact with each other.
Initially Workman was sending the youth text messages, Kochanowski said.
"And then it went from there," he said
