Former sex offender charged

Allegedly assaulted 5-year-old girl

ANTIOCH -- A man who was a registered sex offender for 10 years without an incident has been arrested in the alleged assault of a 5-year-old girl.
Brian Swanson, 42, of 251 Maplewood Drive, Antioch, was being held in Lake County Jail in lieu of $2 million bond. He was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, Antioch Police Cmdr. James Ruth said Monday.

Police arrested Swanson on Friday after serving a search warrant at his home and collecting evidence after receiving a complaint of a sexual assault involving the girl two days earlier.
Swanson had been a registered sex offender after an arrest in Kane County in 1988. He fulfilled all the requirements of a sex offender for 10 years, at which time he no longer had to register.
The Class X felony is punishable by six to 30 years in prison, Ruth said
