Jason Lavarr Cohen - Babysitting child Molester

A Stafford County man has been accused of molesting a 6-year-old girl he was baby-sitting.

Jason Lavarr Cohen is charged with object sexual penetration and taking indecent liberties with a child, according to court records.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 6 in Stafford Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

According to an affidavit for a search warrant filed in Stafford Circuit Court, Cohen is associated with the child's family and has spent a lot of time in her home.

On Dec. 26, the affidavit states, the child's mother asked Cohen to baby-sit for a few hours while she went to work.

When the mother returned home, the child told her that her private parts hurt when she urinated. Pressed further, the child told her mother that Cohen had molested her and made her promise not to tell anyone.

She later told Detective Joe McDermott that the attack occurred on her mother's bed and that a green blanket was placed over her face during the attack.

An examination by a sexual assault nurse supported the child's story, court records state.

Clothing, bedding and DNA from a toilet seat were among the items seized in a subsequent search.

Cohen is being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
