GALENA -- A convicted sex offender accused of calling up several young children and asking them to come out with him after offering them cash has been arrested on seven counts, according to Galena police.
Several residents complained that Robert Franklin Attla, 72, was making harassing phone calls asking the children to come with him; he drove to several of the residences to find the children, Police Chief John Millan said.
Attla was arrested Saturday and was being held on $2,500 bail at the Fairbanks Correctional Center, Millan said. He is charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, three counts of second-degree harassment and one count of driving without a valid license.
According to the state sex-offender registry, Attla was convicted of a felony sex offense in 1989.
