WANTED: Eric Searles - Repeat Sex Offender

The Concord police are looking for a convicted sex offender from Concord they believe fled the city after sexually assaulting a woman on Jan. 4. Eric Searles, 45, was last seen near Suds Appeal laundromat on Washington Street on Jan. 4, the police said. Sgt. John Thomas said Searles is suspected of assaulting a woman in the laundromat.

Searles, who had been staying at a local homeless shelter, is facing charges of sexual assault, false imprisonment, simple assault and contempt of bail. The woman had also stayed at the shelter and had volunteered to wash items for the shelter, the police said. Searles followed her to the laundromat, the police said.

Searles was convicted in Vermont in 1991 of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a person under 18, according to the state’s sex offender registry. And he was arrested by the Hooksett police on Nov. 5 and charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault.

He was freed on $7,000 personal recognizance bail on Dec. 12 on that charge, the police said.

Searles is 6-foot-1 and weights 235 pounds. He was last seen driving a 1998 Ford F-150 truck. He is considered dangerous and the police urged anyone who sees him to call the police.
