A Baltimore man pleaded guilty today to distributing child pornography over the Internet after federal authorities said they found on his computer about 5,000 images of children engaged in sex acts and six movies of children from age 1 and up, the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Charles Christopher Furth, 46, faces between five and 20 years in prison followed by supervised probation for life when he is sentenced April 25, prosecutors said.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Furth pleaded guilty to e-mailing an undercover U.S. Postal Inspector working in New York that he had a video of an adult male having sex with a young girl. On March 16 and March 17, 2006, prosecutors said he e-mailed that video and a similar one with children ages 9 to 11 to the undercover agent.
Prosecutors said he asked the agent to mail him a video containing child pornography, and he sent the agent a personal check to cover the shipping costs. Authorities said the check contained his name and address.
Federal agents searched his Baltimore home and said they found thousands of images and the movies on his computer.
