Harris Taubman - Charged for possession Child Porn

HYANNIS – A man arrested by local police this summer on child pornography possession charges faces related charges from the FBI.

The FBI yesterday charged Harris Taubman, 48, of Hyannis with three counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

On Aug. 13, a neighbor knocked on Taubman’s apartment door at 11 Camp St. to complain Taubman was being too loud. When Taubman opened the door, he pointed a loaded shotgun at the neighbor, according to police.

When Barnstable officers arrived at Taubman’s third floor residence, they found assault rifles and ammunition, which Taubman stated he used “to take care of anyone who wanted to get him,” said Christina DiIorio-Sterling of the U.S. Department of Justice. A further search revealed numerous printed images of child pornography, then nearly 2,000 computer disks containing child pornography, she said.

If convicted on federal charges, Taubman faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison on each of three counts of receipt of child pornography, DiIorio-Sterling said.

Taubman was released yesterday on electronic monitoring and is confined to his home at 111 Main St., she said
