Joseph Michael Nissensohn - Repeat Sex Offender charged with 1989 Murder

Sarah Tofte of the Human Rights Watch says 25% of all sex offenders
re-offend within 15 years

A murder convict awaiting a hearing in Tacoma on a move to commit him indefinitely as a sexual predator has been charged with murder in California. Investigators in other jurisdictions also are looking at killings that may involve 57-year-old Joseph Michael Nissensohn. He was convicted of second-degree murder in a stabbing in 1991 in Tillicum and recently completed his sentence, but he remains in custody pending a custody hearing later Thursday. On January 29th, the district attorney's office in El Dorado County, California, filed a murder charge against Nissensohn. He's charged with killing 15-year-old Kathy Graves, who vanished from her home in South Lake Tahoe in 1989. Nissensohn also is under investigation for the killing of 2 girls, ages 13 and 14, whose remains were found near Seaside, California, in 1981. In court filings his ex-wife is quoted as saying he also was involved in two killings in Oklahoma and one in Nevada.

I am the mother of one of the murdered girls found up in the Carmel Valley, California, in 1981. I cannot believe it has taken this long to formally charge him of this and two other murderes. If he had been charged and convicted back in 1981, there would be several other innocent girls still alive. My daughter would have celebrated her 41st birthday, if he hadn't of tortured her to death, and like the other girl, were left up in the forest, for their remains to be partially eaten by animals. The horror didn't stop after he murdered my daughter---it just keeps going on and on. One thing I do hope for is, if families who have experienced the loss of an innocent child, I pray they can one day find some peace of mind, through out this whole ordeal. God Bless You. Penny

I was good friends with one of the girls from Seaside, Ca. I have been searching for many years for any information about her murder and finally came acoss this site. I am happy to hear that they have finally found the monster responsible for taking these young girls lives. My wish is the families of his victims will find some peace in the knowledge that this man will be held accountable for his actions. To the family of my school friend Tanya (TJ)...I think of her often...she is not forgot but those who knew her. To all the families...your in my prayers.
