A jury in Broome County finds there is cause to for the state to hold a convicted sex offender.
46 year old Gary Millard was tried under the Sex Offender Management and Treatment Act.
The case was heard in State Supreme Court in Binghamton.
The jury heard from psychiatrists who testified he Millard suffers from pedophilia and a personality disorder.
The panel agreed he has a mental abnormality that could cause him to commit sex offenses.
Millard was convicted of sex crimes Broome County in 1995 and 2001.
He was set to be released from prison this year.
Now, its up to the court to decide if he's dangerous and should be confined to a mental health facility.
Or, he could be released under strict supervision and treatment.
