A quick-thinking teenage girl who was home alone in east Stockton managed to avoid harm by locking herself in a bathroom and calling police after a registered sex offender broke into her house, police said.
Police arrested parolee Clifford Deed at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday after he forced his way into the house.
Authorities said Deed kicked in the back door, at which time the 15-year-old hid in the bathroom.
The girl remained calm and called 911 as Deed burglarized the house, police said.
At one point, Deed attempted to force his way into the bathroom but the girl held her body against the door and prevented him from entering, police said.
Officers soon arrived and arrested Deed.
Prior to the arrest, Deed was being housed at the the Stockton Motor Inn on East Charter Way along with other parolees.
Police said Deed told them he was walking around this neighborhood and just decided to break into the home.
Deed was booked into jail on suspicion of burglary and a parole hold.
