SEX OFFENSE, OTHER STATE (ATTEMPTED SODOMY : KIDNAPPING)
The man accused of committing hundreds of sex crimes against children has been sentenced from 19 months to four years in prison on a previous charge for failing to register as a sex offender.
Deputy District Attorney Craig Mingay said Daniel DeWayne Green was sentenced last Thursday so he would go immediately to prison. Another trial centering on his sex crimes is more than eight months away.
Previously, the court was not going to sentence Green until the current case was resolved. The trail is scheduled for June 15-26.
Green, 41, is charged with one count of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, four counts of use of a minor as a subject in the production of pornography, three counts of unlawfully obtaining and using the personal identification of another to harm a person and 265 counts of possession of visual pornography of a person under 16 years of age.
Green’s sentencing was delayed until he was found competent to stand trial on the charges. The trial was scheduled to begin on July 28, but his case, following threats he made to other prisoners and his attorney, was postponed because of competency issues.
