Bruce Williams - Repeat Sex Offender - committed

Williams was convicted in 1975 for indecent behavior with a 13-year-old girl, in 1987 of attempted sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl, in 1988 for second-degree sexual assault of a woman at a restaurant, and in 1995 for sexual conduct with a 7-year-old boy.

Bruce Williams, 52, of Madison, was found to be a sexual predator this week by a Dane County Jury and was committed for treatment by Dane County Circuit Court Judge C. William Foust.

Williams was convicted several times for sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults in Dane County, and evidence at this week's four-day trial showed Williams is a pedophile and is predisposed to engage in acts of sexual violence.

Under Wisconsin law he can now be held for treatment until he is no longer deemed a sexually violent person, and can be kept in treatment for the rest of his life.

As Williams was ending his prison term in 2005, the state moved to have him declared a sexual predator and a jury agreed this week that he was.

Questions about Williams mental competency delayed the case in getting to trial.

Wisconsin law allow a person to be declared a sexually violent person if he has previously engaged in sexually violent acts and has a mental disease which predisposes him to engage in further sexually violent acts.
