George C. Ortloff - Guilty - INTERNET PREDATOR

The former state lawmaker from Plattsburgh who was busted in a sex-sting operation in a Colonie motel back in October has pleaded guilty to online enticement of minors.

Sixty-one-year-old George C. Ortloff, known as Chris Ortloff, entered the guilty plea in federal court in Albany today. Ortloff admitted to communicating online with a person he believed to be the mother of two girls, ages 11 and 12, and attempting to arrange for sex with them.

The person Ortloff was corresponding with was actually an undercover agent with the State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. When Ortloff showed up at the Colonie hotel room on Oct. 13th for the purported meeting with the girls, he was arrested by police.

According to the indictment against Ortloff, he had brought to the hotel two vibrators, lubricant and condoms. Investigators also recovered a computer and camera equipment Ortloff had planned to use to film the minors that night, according to the indictment.

Ortloff faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison when he is sentenced in federal court in Binghamton on April 23rd.
