James Shawn Hulsey - Infant molestor pornographer gets 480 years

United States Attorney Alice H. Martin stated, "Hulsey's abuse of this toddler and infant deserved every day of the 480 years he was sentenced to by Judge Johnson. May the light of day be denied to anyone who would abuse a child in this manner."

Husley and a female companion used a female child, who was only a few months old, and a male child, who was less than two years old, to produce child pornography. Husley and the female companion produced pictures of each other engaging in sexually explicit conduct with the minor children.
A Montevallo man was sentenced Monday to 480 years in federal prison for producing child pornography with kids under the age of two.

In the unlikely event that James Shawn Hulsey, 43, is ever released from prison, he also was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Inge Johnson to supervised release for the remainder of his natural life, will have to register as a sex offender and can have no unsupervised contact with minors.

Hulsey was arrested in August 2007 after being indicted on similar state charges in Bibb County the month before.

Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson said state and federal authorities were led to Hulsey's child porn activities after he supplied court officials with a computer disc of his wife performing sex acts with the couple's children almost a year earlier.

At the time, the girl was just a few months old and the boy younger than 2 years old, court documents said.

'We appreciate the judge's sentence for that amount of time,' Jackson said. 'That's essentially a life without parole sentence.

'I think that kind of sentence sends a powerful message that child abuse will not be tolerated.'

Jackson said Hulsey turned over the disc after being arrested on charges of violating the parole restrictions from a previous armed robbery conviction in Jefferson County.

Hulsey suspected that his wife, Christine Staggs McKim, had turned him in for the violation, Jackson said.

After seeing the contents of the disc, McKim, 24, was arrested on several charges, including producing porn with a minor, permitting a child to act in an obscene manner and first-degree sodomy.

McKim's charges are still pending, Jackson said, and he was unsure of he future court dates.

Investigators also searched the home of Hulsey and McKim.

After finding a computer, authorities conducted a forensic search and turned up evidence of Hulsey also engaging in the acts.

Jackson said Hulsey still faces more than 30 state charges in Bibb County, including first- degree sodomy, two counts of child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and permitting a child to participate in the production of obscene materials.
