Joshua A. Uerkvitz - Repeat Sex Offender - Going back to prison

A convicted sex offender was sent to prison today for possessing child pornography while on probation for molesting a child.

U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer sentenced Joshua A. Uerkvitz, 23, of Rochester to 10 years in prison and ordered that he spend 15 years on supervised release when his prison term concludes.

In August 2006, Uerkvitz was sentenced to 10 years’ probation and six months in Monroe County Jail after he pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse involving sexual contact with a child under 11.

Probation officers found images on his home computer in June 2007. He pleaded guilty in June 2008 to possession of child pornography.

Larimer said he’ll recommend that federal prison officials place Uerkvitz in a federal medical facility because Uerkvitz has physical, psychiatric and emotional illnesses that require medication and supervision. Since his arrest, he has been held on a medical floor of County Jail.
