A 30-year-old man asked a police officer posing as a child in an internet chat room to wear a miniskirt with no knickers when they met, a court in Perth has heard.
Bradley James Armstrong appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of procuring a child under the age of 16 over the internet.
Armstrong, from the small wheat-belt town of Wongan Hills, asked the "child" if she was a virgin, a police prosecutor told the court.
He told her to "wear a short skirt and no knickers so he could touch her when she was in the car".
While Armstrong was on his computer, police working with the Online Child Exploitation Squad visited him at home, where they found him online and charged him.
In a submission to apply for bail, Armstrong's defence counsel said police had tried to trap his client.
He said Armstrong lived alone, was unemployed, had been staying at home and was bored and depressed.
His parents, who are business people in Wongan Hills, said he could live with them if the court agreed to strict bail conditions, the lawyer said.
"It doesn't give me the confidence that Mr Armstrong would observe them," the magistrate Peter Malone told the court.
"So, no, I don't propose to release Mr Armstrong today."
Armstrong was remanded in custody until January 28 for his next court appearance.
