A convicted sex offender has been charged with raping a woman at gunpoint in a car in a Humboldt Park alley in July 2006 after he threatened to kill her if she didn't enter his car, authorities said today.
Bail was set at $600,000 Wednesday for Minosa Echols, 47, of the 1400 block of North Luna Avenue, who was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon.
DNA evidence linked Echols to the rape, and the 26-year-old victim identified him in a lineup, Assistant State's Atty. Kevin Nolan told Cook County Judge Maura Slattery Boyle.
Echols was convicted of sex offenses involving separate underage girls in 2004 and 2000, Nolan said.
