A man previously convicted of rape, and a registered level two sex offender has been arrested and charged with the sexual abuse of a minor.
Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould says Maxwell “Scott” Coapman, 62, of Turnpike Rd. in Cayuga, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual act. The Sheriff’s office says the abuse occurred at various locations over a two year period and involves only one victim, a child less than 13-years-old.Coapman was arrested at his home Thursday afternoon, arraigned in the Town of Aurelius Court and sent to the Cayuga County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Aurelius Court on February 11th .
Coapman was previously convicted of two counts of rape in the second degree in 1990 and is a level 2 registered sex offender.

This man was recently arraigned for many more than 2 counts and then bailed out of jail.
Update As of 3/24/10 this man was found guilty of 20 sexual abuse and rape charges and has been sent back to jail awaiting sentancing.
