Earl S. LaFountain - 86 year old distributed child porn

An 86-year-old man was arrested today and charged with possessing and transmitting child pornography.

Earl S. LaFountain was arrested and is being held at the Lee County Jail. He is charged with 13 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of transmission of child pornography, sheriff’s spokesman John Sheehan said.

Last June, America Online discovered an e-mail which contained an embedded image depicting child pornography. That information was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which generated a report and forwarded it to investigators with the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Information in the report showed that Earl LaFountain, of 30 Verlo Court, Fort Myers, was responsible for sending the image through his AOL accounts.

Additional information provided by the center, and the subsequent investigation by Lee County Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to the case, revealed a total of 13 images depicting child pornography on LaFountain's personal computer.

Around 3:30 p.m., LaFountain was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail.
