A 45-year-old Cleveland man was arraigned Thursday on 54 counts of rape and kidnapping. He is accused of raping a teenage girl repeatedly from August 2004 to January 2007.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office said John Szorady raped the girl from ages 13 to 17. The first time he raped her, he gave her heroin, prosecutor's spokesman Ryan Miday said.
In February, Szorady threatened to send e-mails with pictures of her to her school and friends if she told anyone about the assaults, Miday said. Soon after the threats, police were called.
Szorady was also arraigned Thursday on charges of corrupting another with drugs and intimidation of a crime victim. His bond was set at $1 million and he was ordered to undergo HIV testing.
