David Sweet - Repeat Sex Offender - Tried to Kidnap Woman

Authorities have arrested a registered sex offender accused of trying to kidnap a woman from a northwest Arkansas medical clinic.

Police captured 50 year-old David Sweet on Thursday night near Arkansas 215 in Mulberry. He is being held in the Crawford County jail.

Police say Sweet entered the Mulberry Family Clinic at about 5:00 p.m. Wednesday as the victim was locking up for the day. Sweet reportedly pulled a knife on the woman, and demanded money. Police say he then bound the woman and cut her clothes off.

Police say when the man went outside to start the woman's car, she was able to break free and escape. She called 911 from a nearby pharmacy.

Sweet was arrested without incident after a caller reported seeing him near Mulberry.
